Magnesium has a lower density
Magnesium alloy has a density (1.8) much lower than that of iron (7.8), so magnesium alloy battery boxes are up to 56% lighter than traditional sheet metal battery boxes.
Magnesium is more robust
Under the same rigidity conditions, 1 pound of magnesium is as strong as 1.8 pounds of aluminum and 2.1 pounds of steel.
integral die casting
The battery box requires an IP67 protection rating. The magnesium alloy battery box is formed by integral die casting, which provides better sealing and is easier to achieve compared to sheet metal welding and aluminum alloy profile welding.
Low overall cost
A die-casting machine can form a piece in about 2-3 minutes, which is much more efficient and has a lower overall cost compared to sheet metal welding and aluminum alloy profile welding.
