Magnesium has a lower density
The density of magnesium alloy (1.8) is much lower than that of aluminum alloy (2.7), so magnesium alloy end plates are up to 30% lighter than aluminum alloy end plates.
Suitable tensile strength and modulus of elasticity
The magnesium alloy end plates are sufficient to withstand the expansion force of the battery cell without restricting its expansion, thus not affecting the battery cell's lifespan.
